Worship in the grounds and main hall is free. Museums in the grounds and nearby facilities have separate charges.
Opening hours and closed days
Worship is possible throughout the year. The gates open at 06:00 from the spring equinox and 06:30 from the autumn equinox. They close at 18:30 from December to March, 19:30 from June to August and 19:00 in April–May and September–November. Museums in the grounds open 09:00–16:30, with last admission at 16:00.

How to get to Dazaifu Tenmangu
From Hakata, take the subway to Tenjin and walk to Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station. Check whether your Dazaifu train is direct or requires a transfer at Futsukaichi before boarding. Get off at Dazaifu and follow the shrine approach on foot.

Dazaifu Tenmangu is in Dazaifu City, outside Fukuoka City. Allow at least half a day for the return train journey and shrine approach walk. Check the timetable for your date to choose trains and confirm transfers.

Plan museum visits separately from worship
Last admission to the museums in the shrine grounds is 16:00. If you want to visit them, leave time for both worship and exhibitions. Check the official notice for your date for temporary gate hours or events.

Can I visit Dazaifu Tenmangu and Kyushu National Museum together?
Yes. You can reach Kyushu National Museum through the connecting tunnel from the shrine approach. Leave enough time to see the museum after worship. It has separate fees and hours; check closed days and the conditions for your chosen exhibition.
