Four days in Okinawa: a day in the north or south?

Give Churaumi and Shurijo separate days for marine life and Ryukyu castle grounds. For cave walks and crafts, spend a southern day at Okinawa World alongside Naha culture. Southern vehicle routes require a rental or return vehicle with a driver.

A · Northern aquarium and Shurijo on different days

Give the northern large tank and Ryukyu castle grounds separate visits. Churaumi Aquarium and Shurijo Castle Park are on different days, avoiding long-distance travel and castle sightseeing together. Use return buses for the north, Yui Rail and walking in Naha.

Day 1 · Airport → Kencho-mae hotel → market and Kokusai Street → hotel

Start with market meals and Kokusai Street, then separate the aquarium and castle between days two and three. After a late arrival or on market closures, choose an open Kokusai Street restaurant. Tomorrow’s northern bus boards at the Prefectural Office North Entrance in front of Palette Kumoji.

  1. Naha Airport Station → Kencho-mae hotel

After immigration and baggage collection, use the terminal’s second-floor passage to Naha Airport Station. Travel towards Tedako-Uranishi to Kencho-mae: JPY 290, 13 minutes. Stop at your hotel, then go to southern Kokusai Street. Hotel walking is separate from the train ride.

Walk to the market and choose dinner after checking ingredient/cooking charges or restaurant menus. On market closures, choose an open Kokusai Street restaurant.

  3. Kokusai Street and locating the Prefectural Office North Entrance stop → Kencho-mae hotel

Day 2 · Hotel → northern aquarium → Naha hotel

See marine life in the large tank, then eat and rest in the park. Shurijo is tomorrow, leaving today for aquarium viewing. Walking to the bus stop, bus waits and park travel are separate from bus ride time.

  1. Prefectural Office North Entrance in front of Palette Kumoji → Kinen Koen Mae and aquarium entrance

Board northbound YKB at the stop in front of Palette Kumoji and alight at Kinen Koen Mae (Central Gate). One official timetable example leaves at 08:40 and arrives at 10:45: two hours five minutes of bus travel. With this bus and the 16:15 return below, you have five hours 30 minutes in the park. Check these services operate on your date before departing. Official guidance gives about ten minutes on foot from the stop to the aquarium entrance. Enter the Central Gate, turn right at Haisai Plaza and follow signs north towards the aquarium.

  3. Central Gate and return bus stop → Prefectural Office North Entrance and Naha hotel

One official return example leaves Kinen Koen Mae at 16:15 and reaches the Prefectural Office North Entrance at 18:32: two hours 17 minutes of bus travel. Recheck your date’s service and stop, allowing boarding wait time. Traffic can delay arrival in Naha. Alight almost opposite the stop in front of Palette Kumoji, walk to your hotel and eat dinner in Naha. Adult fares are JPY 1,900 each way, JPY 3,800 return.

B · Southern cave and city culture

Walk the cave and try crafts on day two, with Naha’s museum and castle on days one and three. The southern day requires a rental car or return vehicle with a driver. Vehicle costs are excluded below; add a quotation from your booking provider.

Day 1 · Airport → museum → Kencho-mae hotel

Before day two’s cave and crafts, see Okinawa’s nature and history in the permanent exhibition. Going straight from the airport requires suitable opening, viewing time and storage. A hotel stop first changes journeys and costs.

  1. Naha Airport Station → Omoromachi Station, museum front entrance and luggage storage

After immigration and baggage collection, use the terminal’s second-floor passage to Naha Airport Station. Take a Tedako-Uranishi-bound train to Omoromachi: JPY 320, 19 minutes. Walk 10–15 minutes to the front entrance currently in use. Large luggage lockers beside it on floor one require a refundable JPY 100 coin. If luggage does not fit or lockers are full, ask the general information desk about other storage.

Meet your return vehicle and go back to Naha. Return a rental car at the contracted place/time before reaching your hotel. Book both journeys with a driver as well. Okinawa World entry, vehicles and taxi FAQ

The tourism agency lists free parking for 400 cars, without guaranteeing a space that day. Allow the walk from parking to tickets. Vehicle, fuel, tolls, crafts and meals are excluded below.

Without a rental car, a booked return vehicle with a driver can serve this southern day.

Do not follow this vehicle itinerary without either arrangement.

For buses, take route 54 Maekawa or 83 Gyokusendo from Naha Bus Terminal beside Asahibashi, alight at Gyokusendo-mae and walk about two minutes. Before departing, use the operator timetables linked from official facility access guidance to check both journeys and section fares. Your date’s return bus times/fares are excluded from this vehicle itinerary subtotal.

If no return service is settled, switch today to meals on Naha’s Kokusai Street and at the market; facilities and costs change.

Rain does not mean every show runs. The facility warns that approaching typhoons or strong rain/wind may cancel performances. Check vehicles and facility operation; do not plan travel when a typhoon stops transport.
