A short trip: Narita's temple or Disneyland?

Stay one night near Narita Station for Naritasan and a meal along Omotesando. For Tokyo Disneyland on arrival day, compare Maihama and Shin-Urayasu hotels. You need an arrival flight that leaves enough park time after traveling to Maihama, plus a ticket for that visit date.

Temple visit and meals in Narita

Choose this short trip if you use Narita Airport and want separate time for small exhibits near the station, the temple, and meals along Omotesando. It does not travel to the parks or southern Chiba.

Day 1 · Narita Tourist Pavilion and Omotesando

Travel from the airport into Narita city, see festival floats at the pavilion, and eat along Omotesando. On a late arrival or closure day, skip the exhibits and enjoy the street and a meal.

  1. Airport railway station at Narita → Keisei-Narita or JR Narita Station

Choose a train stopping at Narita's city station. Distinguish it from Skyliner services toward Nippori and Ueno. If you arrive at Terminal 3, go to Terminal 2's railway station first. Airport hotels and hotels near Narita Station are in different locations.

    Narita Airport rail guideSkyliner stops

  2. Near JR Narita or Keisei-Narita Station → Narita Tourist Pavilion

Walk along Omotesando for about 10 minutes to the pavilion. This visit sees the float exhibits before returning to the station. Allow separate time for a temple visit farther along the route to the main hall.

    Access and name verification

  3. Narita Tourist Pavilion entrance → Tourist information and float exhibits

Look at regional information on the first floor, then the festival floats upstairs. Admission is free. Check the official notice for elevator availability before going upstairs. If the elevator is unavailable and stairs are difficult for you, stay on the first floor.

  4. Narita Tourist Pavilion → Near Narita Station

Return along the same Omotesando route. The station is about 10 minutes away; meals, waiting, and travel to your specific hotel take additional time.

    Access and name verification

Check the attraction guide for pavilion opening dates and elevator restrictions. Restaurant hours and waits vary by shop.

Day 2 · Visit Naritasan, then go to the airport

If you have enough time before your flight, visit the temple before going to the airport.

  1. Near JR Narita or Keisei-Narita Station → Naritasan Somon gate via Omotesando

Walk along Omotesando's shops to Somon gate. The approach from the station is about 800 meters; reaching the main hall requires additional travel beyond the gate.

  2. Naritasan Somon gate → Great Main Hall

Go up the grounds' stairs and slopes to the Great Main Hall. If you need to avoid stairs, check elevator locations on the official grounds map and their availability for your visit first.

  3. Great Main Hall → Worship and a walk around the grounds

After worship, explore around the main hall. Buildings and reception counters have different hours; on a late arrival, visit only open areas. Prayer ceremonies, sutra copying, and other separate activities are not included in this itinerary.

  4. Great Main Hall → Somon gate and Omotesando

Return down the same grounds route to Somon and Omotesando. For a meal, choose an eel restaurant or another shop after checking its hours and wait. Temple hours do not apply to restaurants.

  5. Omotesando → Near Narita Station

Follow the same Omotesando route back toward the station. Browsing and meals require time beyond the walk.

  6. Keisei-Narita or JR Narita Station → Narita Airport or Airport Terminal 2 Station

Take a train that stops at Narita Airport. JR trains toward Choshi are not airport-bound. Use Narita Airport Station for Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 2 Station for Terminals 2 and 3.

  7. Arrival airport railway station → Your departure terminal

For Terminal 3, continue from Terminal 2 via the connecting walkway or free shuttle. Allow train waiting and terminal travel to meet your airline's check-in arrival time. The airport lists walks from the station of about five minutes for Terminals 1 and 2 and about 10 minutes for Terminal 3. These are not total journey times including the train, waiting, and departure procedures.

Work backward from the airport arrival time your airline specifies. For an early flight, go straight to the airport and move the temple visit to day one.

Is there enough time for Disneyland on arrival day?

Immigration, airport travel, and reaching your hotel reduce park time. Prepare a ticket for the correct date and park, then calculate time to admission using your actual arriving flight. Compare the two-day arrival-day park itinerary for a shorter visit, or the four-day itinerary that rests on arrival and visits the park the next day for a full day.
