Kumamoto in 3 Days: Spend the Middle Day in the City or Aso?
For a relaxed city schedule, visit the castle, museum, and garden on separate days. If the grassland appeals more, compare a middle-day trip by JR to Aso Station and a connecting bus to Kusasenri. Coordinate trains, buses, and return services for your date.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should I calculate transport costs for an Aso day trip?
The ¥3,600 includes only verified admission, Aso bus, and city tram costs. The required Kumamoto–Aso JR round trip costs extra. Look up the fare for your actual date, train, and seat in the official JR search and add it.

Can I board the Kusasenri bus immediately after reaching Aso Station?
After leaving your JR train, go through the station exit to the bus boarding point outside Aso Station. The Aso mountain bus boards first come, first served without reservations, so a train arrival time alone does not guarantee boarding. Choose both bus directions and your return JR train together, leaving room for a later service if the bus is full or delayed.
