Kumamoto in 5 Days: Two Nights in Aso or Kurokawa?

To separate the grassland visit from city sightseeing, consider two city nights followed by two nights in Aso. For more onsen time, compare two nights in Kurokawa before returning to the city. In Aso, allow time for grassland walks and breaks; in Kurokawa, spread visits to participating ryokans' outdoor baths across your stay.

Compare Kagoshima's Sand Baths and Shrine Trips

If sand bathing or shrine visits appeal more than grasslands and an onsen ryokan, compare Kagoshima's 5-day options. Reallocate hotel nights between areas instead of adding both full itineraries to the same dates. Compare ordinary tickets with designated Southern and All Kyushu pass coverage for the Kumamoto–Kagoshima-Chuo Shinkansen; Northern Kyushu excludes this section. Station access, trams, ferries, buses, rental cars after arrival, and changed accommodation costs are separate. Start with dated return trains and hotel access.

When using it over two days, subtract yesterday's visits and check your remaining allowance and each facility's admission arrangements that day. The itinerary includes one pass. How should I budget JR fares and hotel access for two nights in Aso?

The ¥4,700 includes only admission, Aso bus, and city tram costs. The required JR round trip and travel to your Aso lodging cost extra. Look up JR fares for the actual dates, trains, and seats, then add any paid hotel access.
