Four nights in Kumamoto: spend two in Aso or Kurokawa?
For grassland separately from city sightseeing, browse two city nights followed by two in Aso. For more onsen time, compare two Kurokawa nights before returning to the city. Aso offers grassland walks and rest, while Kurokawa lets you spread participating ryokans' outdoor baths across your stay.
Choose an itinerary for 5 days / 4 nights
Split your stay between the city and Aso
Spend two nights around Torichosuji, then two in Aso. Choose this for grassland walks and local rest time. On the final day, return to Kumamoto by JR and visit the art museum before an afternoon departure. For an earlier departure, move the art museum to an earlier city day.

Check the art museum's closure day for your city return.

Compare Kagoshima sand bathing and shrine visits
For sand bathing or shrines instead of grassland and onsen ryokans, compare Kagoshima's four-night options. Reallocate nights by region rather than adding both full itineraries to the same dates. Compare ordinary tickets with designated Southern and All Kyushu coverage for Kumamoto–Kagoshima-Chuo Shinkansen; Northern Kyushu excludes it. Station access, local trams, ferries and buses, hire cars and changed accommodation cost extra separately. Check dated return trains and accommodation access first.
