Which sights should you choose first?

Jinya has government rooms and rice storage. The free town museum covers history and culture; the float hall displays ornate festival-float decoration and carving. Choose Hida Folk Village for old homes up close or Shirakawa-go for walks in a lived-in gassho village. Gifu Park and Mt. Kinka offer mountain views, but closed castle interiors are excluded. Itineraries by trip length

Choose your overnight city before trip length. Stay in Takayama for one or two nights. For three or four nights, you can start with Gifu views before moving. Check afternoon arrival-day and final-morning viewing against actual trains and buses.

2 days / 1 night

Stay one Takayama night for Jinya and town museum or folk village by bus followed by Jinya. No Shirakawa-go return is included, leaving a short stay for city viewing or house displays.

3 days / 2 nights

Stay two nights at the same Takayama hotel. Visit Jinya and town museum on the first and final days, choosing folk village or Shirakawa-go for the middle day. For Shirakawa-go, check Wada House opening and reservations for both bus directions.

4 days / 3 nights

Three Takayama nights give separate folk-village and Shirakawa-go days. To add Mt. Kinka, choose one Gifu City night then two Takayama nights. That option excludes Shirakawa-go; check Hida and museum viewing time on transfer day.

5 days / 4 nights

Stay one Gifu City night for park and mountain views, then three Takayama nights. Visit Jinya, town museum and final-day float hall, using the remaining day for Shirakawa-go and Wada House or folk village. Castle interiors and the street festival are excluded.
