Five Gifu days: Shirakawa-go or Hida Folk Village?
See mountain views and stay one Gifu City night, then move for three Takayama nights. Choose Shirakawa-go for a lived-in gassho village/Wada House or folk village to reduce intercity bus travel and see old-house displays. The final-day hall displays festival floats; this differs from street-festival dates.

Frequently asked questions
Can I spend a day in Gero during a five-day trip?
Replace Shirakawa-go or folk-village day with Gero. Take a bus from Nohi Bus Center to Gero Station, walk about eight minutes to the Onsen Museum, then return to the same Takayama hotel. Check your date's return services and museum closures first. The museum is closed on Thursdays (the next day if Thursday is a public holiday) and on 30 and 31 December; confirm 29 December opening directly.
The adult subtotal for return buses and museum admission is JPY 2,520, outside the itineraries above. Meals, bathing and accommodation are separate; this local bus is outside the tourist pass. Give Shirakawa-go another sightseeing day if also visiting it. For bathing or a Gero night, check your chosen facility or hotel separately.

Does visiting the float hall mean seeing the street festival too?
View gold-leaf decoration and carving on autumn-festival floats indoors. Final-day hall viewing does not mean the street festival takes place then. Displays rotate; the hall is open from 9 am to 5 pm from March to November and from 9 am to 4:30 pm from December to February. Allow about 20 minutes from the station and the return after viewing before departure.
