Three nights in Hiroshima Prefecture: stay a night in Onomichi?
For Onomichi's hilltop views and Jodoji on separate days, stay two nights in Hiroshima and one in Onomichi. To keep the same accommodation, stay three nights in Hiroshima and give the garden, collection exhibition, Miyajima and peace museum a day each. The Onomichi stay ends at Onomichi Station; the Hiroshima stay ends at Hiroshima Station.

Frequently asked questions
Are trams and the ropeway free with a JR pass?
Hiroden trams and Senkoji Ropeway are not free rides under either of these JR passes. The Kansai-Hiroshima and Sanyo-San'in passes cover the JR Sanyo Line and JR Miyajima Ferry during their validity period; the JPY 100 visitor tax costs extra. Senkoji Ropeway offers a JPY 630 adult return ticket to the person presenting a JR-WEST RAIL PASS before buying the ropeway ticket. The itinerary totals use the standard JPY 700 return fare.

Does staying in Onomichi change my final departure station?
If you stay in Onomichi, visit Jodoji and return to Onomichi Station on the final day. If you stay in Hiroshima, visit the peace museum and return to Hiroshima Station. The walk to Jodoji takes about 15 minutes from Onomichi Station to the lower ropeway station, then another 20 minutes to the temple; return along the same route. Allow around 70 minutes' total walking and the suggested 60-minute visit, plus breaks and time before boarding. A Shinkansen departure requires separate travel to Shin-Onomichi Station.
