Frequently asked questions

How do I budget transport for an Aso day trip?

The ¥3,600 covers only confirmed admission, Aso buses and city trams. Required return JR between Kumamoto and Aso costs extra. Use the official JR search for your actual date, train and seat, then add that amount.

JR Kyushu train times and fares by date and section

Can I board the Kusasenri bus immediately after arriving at Aso Station?

Leave the JR train, exit the station and walk to the bus boarding point outside. The Aso mountain bus boards first-come without reservations, so train arrival alone does not confirm boarding. Choose return buses and JR together and leave room for a later service if full or delayed.
