Kumamoto in four nights and five days: Two nights in Aso or Kurokawa?
Choose two city nights followed by two in Aso to separate grasslands from city visits. For more bathing time, compare two Kurokawa nights before returning to the city. Aso offers grassland walks and rest; Kurokawa lets you divide participating ryokans’ open-air baths at a leisurely pace.
Choose a 5 days, 4 nights itinerary
Split your stay between the city and Aso
Spend two nights near Torichosuji, then two in Aso for grassland walks and time to relax locally. The final day returns by JR to Kumamoto with a city art museum visit before an afternoon departure. If leaving early, consider moving the art museum to an earlier city day.
