Five days in Okinawa: how should you divide the north and Naha?
For large-tank marine life and greenhouse flowers, allow one aquarium/Tropical Dream Center day, with museum, castle and garden on other Naha days. For caves/crafts, choose southern Okinawa World, pairing museum/art museum on another day. Arrange southern return transport separately.
Choose a 5 days, 4 nights itinerary
A: two northern attractions in one day, with relaxed Naha days
Pair the aquarium and Tropical Dream Center for marine life, greenhouse flowers and fruit trees. Keep the same Naha hotel and make one northern bus return trip. Other days cover museum, castle and garden. Split the northern attractions if you also want long show/beach visits; choose a botanical-garden opening day.

Choose this for a southern cave/craft day with relaxed Naha castle, museum and art museum visits. The southern day requires a rental car or return driver service. Vehicle costs are excluded; add your provider’s quote separately.

Day 1: airport → Kencho-mae accommodation → Kokusai Street → accommodation
Eat dinner on Kokusai Street on day 1, then pair the northern aquarium and Tropical Dream Center on day 2. Visit the museum and castle on separate days after returning to Naha. Board the northbound bus at Kencho-kitaguchi in front of Palette Kumoji.
- Naha Airport Station → Kencho-mae accommodation
After immigration and baggage collection, use the second-floor walkway to Naha Airport Station. Take a Tedako-Uranishi-direction train to Kencho-mae: ¥290, 13 minutes. Walk to your accommodation; walking is extra.

- Kokusai Street and Kencho-kitaguchi boarding-point check → Kencho-mae accommodation
Before walking back to your hotel, check the Kencho-kitaguchi northbound stop in front of Palette Kumoji. Naha return drop-off is almost opposite. Day-2 guidance covers the timetable and later services when full. Visit the north once on day 2; leave large luggage at the same Naha hotel.

Day 2: accommodation → aquarium → Tropical Dream Center → Naha accommodation
See marine life in the large tank in the morning, then walk orchid/tropical fruit greenhouses in the afternoon. Both attractions are in Ocean Expo Park and can fit one day. If bus delays or entry queues are long, skip the botanical garden to catch your return.
- Kencho-kitaguchi in front of Palette Kumoji → Kinen-koen-mae and aquarium entrance
Take a northbound YKB bus from Kencho-kitaguchi in front of Palette Kumoji to Kinen-koen-mae (Central Gate). One official timetable example departs at 08:40 and arrives at 10:45: two hours five minutes on the bus. Paired with the 16:15 return below, this leaves five hours 30 minutes at the park. Check before departure that these services operate on your date. The official walk from the stop to the aquarium entrance is roughly 10 minutes. Enter through Central Gate, turn right around Haisai Plaza and follow signs north towards the aquarium.

- Tropical Dream Center entrance → Greenhouses, then Central Gate
Pay adult admission ¥760 to walk greenhouses with orchids and tropical fruit trees. The park’s official example allows 60 minutes here. An ordinary aquarium ticket does not qualify for half-price admission. The official map gives seven minutes/580 m between the garden and Haisai Plaza near Central Gate. Head to Central Gate in time for your return bus, allowing toilets, footbridge travel and boarding waits. Map times exclude sightseeing, rests and bus-stop waits.

An official return example departs Kinen-koen-mae at 16:15 and reaches Kencho-kitaguchi at 18:32: two hours 17 minutes riding. Recheck dated operation and the stop; allow boarding waits. Road congestion may delay Naha arrival. Get off almost opposite the stop in front of Palette Kumoji, walk to your hotel and eat dinner in Naha. Adult fare: ¥1,900 one way, ¥3,800 return.

Tropical Dream Center closes Wednesdays from 1 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, or the next weekday when Wednesday is a public holiday. Swap northern and museum/castle days for closures, checking museum closures and Shurijo reservations. The suggested schedule allows two hours for the aquarium, one for lunch/walking, one for the garden and roughly one for return preparations. Bus delays or full services require shorter visits or a different date. These times are examples from the operator’s currently supplied timetable effective 1 November 2025. The five-hour-30-minute park stay includes entrance walking and bus waits. After late arrival, shorten or skip the garden instead of trying to fit both.
Day 3: accommodation → museum → Naha city → accommodation
After northern marine life and plants, explore Okinawa’s nature and history at Naha’s museum. For Monday or other closures, swap with day 4’s castle, matching castle opening and Seiden reservations.
- Kencho-mae accommodation and station → Omoromachi Station and museum main entrance
Take a Tedako-Uranishi-direction train from Kencho-mae to Omoromachi: ¥250, six minutes. Allow another 10–15 minutes walking to the main entrance at 3-1-1 Omoromachi, Naha. Check side-entrance/rear-gate closure notices and use the main entrance.

Check 29 December–3 January year-end closure.
- Museum and Omoromachi Station → Kencho-mae Station, city dinner and accommodation
Walk from the main entrance to Omoromachi Station and take an airport-bound train to Kencho-mae: ¥250, six minutes, making today’s rail return ¥500. Eat near Kokusai Street and return to the same hotel. Meals are excluded.

Do not automatically add a northern return trip because you skipped the garden yesterday. Splitting aquarium and garden across two days subtracts museum/rail ¥1,030 and adds northern return ¥3,800. Counting garden ¥760 once, the subtotal becomes ¥12,360/¥12,960. For longer visits to each, compare Motobu accommodation in “Northern day trip or Motobu overnight?” below.
Day 4: accommodation → Shurijo Castle Park → Naha city → accommodation
Walk Shureimon and the castle grounds for Ryukyu history. For the Seiden interior, match your date’s opening and reservation slot. If closures require a date change, adjust other attractions and transport.
- Kencho-mae accommodation and station → Shuri Station south exit and Shureimon
Take a Tedako-Uranishi-direction train from Kencho-mae to Shuri: ¥320, 14 minutes. Leave through the south exit and follow the official route to Shureimon, generally roughly 15 minutes. For Seiden interior reservations, allow 40–50 minutes from station arrival to your slot.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see the aquarium and Tropical Dream Center on the same day?
Both are in Ocean Expo Park and can be paired if bus connections leave enough visiting, meal and walking time. The aquarium’s official 1½–2-hour average excludes outdoor dolphin/turtle/manatee facilities. Walk roughly 15 minutes from aquarium exit to garden. Skip the garden after delays and prioritize your return. It closes Wednesdays from 1 July 2026 to 31 March 2027, or the next weekday for public-holiday Wednesdays.

Does a Motobu night cost the same as the Naha day-trip route?
No. Five-day A’s ¥9,590/¥10,190 is the whole itinerary’s facility/transport subtotal while staying in Naha and making a northern day trip. It is not just the northern day’s cost. For one Motobu night, recheck accommodation, hotel travel and next-day Naha return costs. Check Mahaina shuttle times at reception; there is no airport shuttle.

Can I use the museum/art museum 1DAY pass on any date?
No. The listed ¥750 pass covers same-day museum permanent/art collection visits from 25 September to 28 November 2026, excluding some special exhibitions. Southern/city five-day subtotals ¥5,070/¥5,670 also assume this pass. Individual tickets checked on 9 October total ¥930, or ¥180 more, but this compares prices only within that exhibition period. From 29 November, recheck exhibits/prices and calculate again; add southern return vehicles separately.
