Choose areas that fit together in one day

Use Namba for separate walks along Dotonbori and through Namba Parks Garden. Combine Umeda's Floating Garden view with station-area meals, and give Tempozan time for Kaiyukan. Divide the castle, observatory and aquarium across days according to entry bookings and walking.

Minoh involves walking from Hankyu Minoh to the falls. Sakai centres on the free exhibits west of Mozu Station, without entering tomb interiors. Choose the waterfall or exhibits and replace a city day.

Eat in the neighbourhood you are walking

In Namba, choose between snacks such as takoyaki and an okonomiyaki meal. For an early riverside walk, check when your preferred restaurant opens. On a Umeda day, eating near the station before or after the observatory reduces trips back to Namba.

Kaiyukan has ended re-entry, so eat before or after admission. Namba Parks Garden opens at 10:00, while shops and restaurants generally open at 11:00.

Distinguish Metro, Hankyu and JR

From Namba, change to the Chuo Line at Hommachi for the castle and Kaiyukan, in opposite directions. Use Tanimachi 4-chome for the castle and Osakako for the aquarium. Umeda observatory walking directions differ depending on whether you start at Metro Umeda or JR Osaka.

For Minoh, take Hankyu from Osaka-umeda via Ishibashi handai-mae and change to the Minoh Line. For Sakai, change from Metro to JR Hanwa at Tennoji and choose a train stopping at Mozu. Do not include Hankyu or JR in a Metro day pass. Immigration, baggage collection and the walk from your hotel to the platform are additional to train travel time. Allow separately for reaching your airport-train platform and flight check-in.

If your hotel stores bags on departure day, leave time to collect them. Choose the final visit according to the time needed afterwards for your departure station or airport.

Compare JR passes for the routes and dates you will use

A JR pass need not be your first purchase if most travel is on city subways and Hankyu to Minoh. Itinerary costs exclude JR passes. For JR trips to Kyoto or Kobe, compare ordinary return fares with pass validity. Add travel to JR Osaka and onwards from the destination station to the sights separately.

WEST QR Mini covers ordinary trains in its valid area for three consecutive days. Limited express trains such as Haruka require a separate limited express ticket; Shinkansen requires new fare tickets. For Area, check your chosen consecutive days and valid sections, distinguishing them from Shinkansen. Wide includes five consecutive days and Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Okayama, but excludes Tokaido Shinkansen from Kyoto to Shin-Osaka. Check each product's official foreign passport, Temporary Visitor, start, seat and exchange conditions. These tickets do not cover all accommodation, admission, ordinary private railways or city buses.
