Two days in Osaka: castle exhibits or the aquarium?
Choose first-day castle exhibits followed by a Dotonbori walk, or first-day Kaiyukan followed by Namba Parks Garden.
Both assume arriving in Namba by midday. For a morning flight home, skip day 2 sightseeing and go to the airport.

Day 1 · Osaka Castle from Namba, then back to your hotel
Have lunch in Namba, then enjoy the castle exhibits and park. If you arrive late, shorten the visit to meet last admission or move it to another day.
- Namba → Hommachi
After lunch, take a northbound Midosuji Line train from Namba. Get off two stops later at Hommachi and change to the Chuo Line.
- Hommachi → Tanimachi 4-chome
At Hommachi, stay inside the gates and change to the Chuo Line towards Nagata and Ikoma for Tanimachi 4-chome. Search Namba → Hommachi → Tanimachi 4-chome for your date, allowing for platform changes and train waits at Hommachi.
- Tanimachi 4-chome Exit 9 → Otemon and castle tower
From Tanimachi 4-chome Exit 9, follow the park map through Otemon to the castle tower ticket and entry area. The official station-to-tower walk is about 15–20 minutes. A tower visit usually takes 50–60 minutes, or about 90 minutes for a closer look. Walk around the exterior and moat afterwards. Shorten the park walk for long ticket queues; choose other paid areas such as Nishinomaru Garden separately.
- Castle tower → Tanimachi 4-chome, Hommachi and Namba
Return to Tanimachi 4-chome and take the Chuo Line west towards Hommachi. Change to the Midosuji Line towards Tennoji and Nakamozu for Namba. Check in at your hotel and eat in Namba. For evening views, make a short stop near Ebisubashi and leave the riverside walk for tomorrow.
- Late arrivals and closure days → Adjusting your visit
Tower entry ends at 17:30 but may close earlier when busy. Closed 28 December–1 January. After a late arrival, eat in Namba on day 1 and move the tower to day 2 only if enough airport travel time remains. Otherwise, omit the exhibits and stay around Namba.
Day 2 · Riverside walk, then return to Namba Station
- Namba hotel → Dotonbori riverside
Take a short riverside walk in the morning. The tourism bureau lists about 5 minutes from Midosuji Line Namba Station to the path. Head towards Dotonbori and Ebisubashi, pass the signs around the bridge and descend to the riverside path. Return towards Ebisubashi after the walk. No river cruise is included.
- Dotonbori riverside → Meal and return to Namba Station
Return towards Ebisubashi and Namba Station after your walk and meal. Restaurants and shops have individual hours and may not open early in the morning. For a morning departure, skip the riverside and go to your booked departure station.
Included items: Castle tower admission and ordinary Metro return travel between Namba and Tanimachi 4-chome
Separate costs and conditions: Flights, accommodation, meals, luggage storage, airport transport, additional paid facilities and extra transport due to your hotel's location are excluded.
Tower admission ¥1,200 + ordinary Namba–Tanimachi 4-chome fare ¥240 × 2 = ¥1,680. No buses are used, and day 2 is on foot around Namba. Choosing a Metro day pass on day 1 gives a subtotal without discounts of ¥2,020 on weekdays or ¥1,820 on weekends and Japanese public holidays. For this single return journey with two rides, the ¥480 ordinary fares cost less than the ¥820/620 pass. A lowest-cost comparison including facility discounts is separate; no such discount is applied here.
Kaiyukan and Namba Parks Garden
Spend the first afternoon seeing marine life, then walk Namba Parks Garden on day 2. Choose this for more aquarium time and a departure-day rest near the station.
Day 1 · Lunch before the aquarium
Give the afternoon to the aquarium. Have lunch in Namba, then travel to Tempozan for your reserved entry time.
- Namba → Hommachi
After lunch in Namba, take a northbound Midosuji Line train to Hommachi.
- Hommachi → Osakako
At Hommachi, change to the Chuo Line towards Cosmosquare and Yumeshima for Osakako. Search Namba → Hommachi → Osakako for your date, leaving time for the station transfer and entry queue before your aquarium reservation.
- Osakako Exit 1 → Kaiyukan entry and visit
From Osakako Exit 1, follow signs towards Tempozan Marketplace and the large Ferris wheel for about 5 minutes. Allow for ticket checks and entry queues before entering at your reserved time. The official school-group material gives 90–120 minutes for a circuit, excluding queues, meals and individual breaks. Reduce later visits if you want more time watching the animals.
- Kaiyukan visit → Tempozan break
You cannot leave for a meal and re-enter during the visit. Eat lunch before admission and consider a 30–40-minute Tempozan break afterwards. The Ferris wheel, cruise and LEGOLAND are excluded from this itinerary and its costs. For other paid facilities, check remaining time and separate tickets first.
- Kaiyukan → Osakako, Hommachi and Namba
Return along the same path to Osakako and take the Chuo Line towards Nagata and Ikoma. At Hommachi, change to the Midosuji Line towards Tennoji and Nakamozu for Namba, then return to your hotel area for dinner. If staying longer in Tempozan, check the same return route in the official journey search.
- Tickets and arrival conditions → Adjusting your visit
Avoid an early ticket that leaves no room for immigration delays. Choose your visit date's price, hours and entry time first. After a late arrival, stay in Namba on day 1; move the aquarium to day 2 only if both the visit and airport journey fit. Omit the next-day aquarium for a morning flight.
Day 2 · Namba Parks Garden from 10:00
- Namba hotel → Second-floor Parks Garden entrance
From Midosuji Line Namba Station, follow signs towards Nankai Namba and Namba Parks. Official facility information gives about 7 minutes from the subway; Nankai Namba is connected. Distinguish this from the approximately 15-minute walk from JR Namba. Start at the shopping complex's second-floor garden entrance, identified in the official garden guide as 2F 緑のエントランスシンボル. Check that entrance and your preferred floors on the garden's floor guide first.
- Parks Garden → Walk and meal
The garden opens at 10:00; shops and restaurants generally at 11:00. Walk first, then eat or shop if time remains. You do not need to climb every garden floor from 2 to 9. Rest on floor 3 or choose higher floors to fit your time. In rain or strong winds, shorten the garden visit and choose indoor dining or shopping after the stores open. Follow facility closure notices and individual shop exceptions.
- Namba Parks → Namba Station and departure
After your visit and meal, follow facility signs to the Nankai Namba connection or towards Midosuji Line Namba Station. Finish the garden visit in time for your booked airport train or onward service. Skip the garden for a morning departure.
Included items: Aquarium admission on 8 October 2026 and ordinary Metro return travel between Namba and Osakako
Separate costs and conditions: Flights, accommodation, meals, luggage storage, airport transport, paid tours, shopping, additional facilities and other transport sections are excluded.

The example for an adult aged 16 and over visiting the aquarium on 8 October 2026 is ¥2,800 + ¥580 = ¥3,380. For another date, add ¥580 to that day's chosen admission price. The same-date example with a day 1 Metro pass is ¥3,620. For one return journey and two rides, ¥580 ordinary fares cost less than the ¥820 weekday or ¥620 weekend/public holiday pass, though a comparison including facility discounts is separate. Neither day's basic route uses buses.
