Ordinary admission for ages 18 and above is JPY 2,500. Himeji residents pay JPY 1,000; this does not apply to travellers. Under-18s enter free, with free eligibility continuing until the following 31 March after turning 18. The adult Himeji Castle/Koko-en combined ticket costs JPY 2,600.

The castle opens from 09:00 to 17:00, with last admission at 16:00. It closes on 29–30 December. Weather or events may change operations, so check notices for your date.

How to get to Himeji Castle
From Sannomiya, take a JR Special Rapid towards Himeji, Aboshi or Banshu-Ako and get off at Himeji. The ride takes about 40 minutes, followed by roughly 20 minutes on foot to the castle. Station access and train waits are extra. The keep visit includes stairs and slopes, with no lift.

Once you leave Himeji Castle after entering, re-entry is not allowed. Avoid leaving for a meal midway through the visit. Finish the castle, then eat or continue to Koko-en.
