Admission

Regular admission for ages 18 and older is ¥2,500. The ¥1,000 Himeji resident rate does not apply to visitors. Under-18s enter free, including through March 31 following the year in which they turn 18. The adult Himeji Castle–Koko-en combined ticket costs ¥2,600.

The castle opens 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with last admission at 4:00 PM. It closes December 29–30. Weather or events may change operations; check visit-date notices.

How to get to Himeji Castle

Take a JR Special Rapid from Sannomiya toward Himeji, Aboshi, or Banshu-Ako and get off at Himeji. The ride takes about 40 minutes, followed by roughly 20 minutes on foot to the castle. Station access and train waiting are extra. The keep has stairs and slopes, with no elevator.
