Hiroshima in five days: include Miyajima or stay longer in Onomichi?
For both Miyajima and Onomichi, spend 3 nights in Hiroshima then 1 in Onomichi. For more Onomichi instead of the island, split 2 nights in each city. Two Onomichi nights separate hill views, Jodoji and Film Museum; both routes end at Onomichi Station.

Frequently asked questions
Can you take Shinkansen from Onomichi Station?
Shinkansen uses Shin-Onomichi. The stations differ, so plan separate transport, time and fare there after Onomichi sightseeing.
Does Kansai–Hiroshima cover every journey in a five-day route?
Kansai–Hiroshima lasts 5 consecutive days from your chosen start; Sanyo–Sanin lasts 7. Valid-period local JR Sanyo to Miyajimaguchi/Onomichi and JR ferry are covered; trams, airport buses, ropeway, accommodation and admission cost extra. Island routes use JR ferry; longer Onomichi stays without the island do not incur it. Savings require comparison with ordinary JR fares and travel into/out of the prefecture.
