April–October last entry is 4:30 p.m., with closing at 5:00 p.m.; November–March last entry is 4:00 p.m., with closing at 4:30 p.m. Choose arrival-day transportation that leaves time for the interior.

- Jinya → Station or hotel
In rain, shorten outdoor walks and focus on the Jinya. Eat dinner in the city, then go to your hotel near the station.
Pay admission and remove your shoes to visit the Jinya interior. Check your date's entry cutoff and temporary closures, then follow walking directions toward the old town or station after viewing.
Day 2 · Takayama Station east side → Takayama Museum of History and Art → station
On the final day, see the free exhibitions at the Takayama Museum of History and Art and return to the station. Check that you can finish viewing and lunch before your train or bus.
- Takayama Station east side → Takayama Museum of History and Art
From Takayama Station's east exit, follow Chuo-dori in front of the station to the city museum. City directions give about a 20-minute walk. Exhibition rooms open 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. and the garden opens 7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., with free admission. There is no regular closing day, but check temporary closure notices. In rain, shorten outdoor street walks and focus on the exhibits. Arriving early for garden hours does not give access to exhibitions before 9:00 a.m.

- Takayama Museum of History and Art → Takayama Station and departure preparation
After viewing, return along the same Chuo-dori toward the east station exit and eat lunch in the city. The museum-to-exit walk takes about 20 minutes. Leave extra time for viewing, meals, and reaching your boarding point before an afternoon train or bus. Do not add a Shirakawa-go round trip that day. An early-morning departure leaves no time for the museum.
The city museum is a separate free exhibition facility from the Jinya. Check the walk along Chuo-dori from the station's east side and temporary closures. Choose an onward service leaving time to finish sightseeing and reach its boarding point.
Included: Jinya individual adult admission ¥500. The city museum is free.
Separate costs and conditions: One night in Takayama, meals, luggage storage, transportation into and out of the prefecture, and separate activities.
Based on regular adult admission and selected ticket types checked October 8, 2026. This is not a full-trip budget including lodging and meals.
Hida Folk Village and Jinya
Stay one night in Takayama to explore traditional houses and former government-office interiors on separate days. Visit Hida Folk Village on day 1 and the Jinya on day 2. Choose an arrival that leaves time for daylight viewing and the round-trip bus on day 1.
Day 1 · Nohi Bus Center boarding point 1 → Hida Folk Village → Takayama
- Takayama Station / Nohi Bus Center point 1 → Hida Folk Village stop and entrance
At the Nohi Bus Center on the station's east side, check how to buy or exchange the Hida Folk Village set ticket. Take Sarubobo from boarding point 1 and get off at Hida Folk Village. Choose your return before leaving. Follow entrance signs from the stop to the ticket office. Walking and ticket-office waiting time are separate from the bus ride. Inside, explore relocated traditional houses and outdoor spaces, with time for lunch and a break. Check that your chosen place to eat is open on the day.

Return from Hida Folk Village on Sarubobo toward Takayama Nohi Bus Center. The loop timetable lists Hida Folk Village twice. Read the facility-departure row and center-arrival row in the same column to choose your return. After reaching the center, check in and eat dinner in the city. If a late arrival prevents the round-trip bus and daylight visit, change the order of visits. If heavy rain or snow makes travel difficult, ask the center about service and consider postponing. This plan visits Hida Folk Village by day and does not include a separate evening event.

Can I see the city museum before an early departure on day 2?
Exhibition rooms open at 9:00 a.m. The walk from the station takes about 20 minutes each way. This itinerary visits the museum on the second morning before an afternoon departure.
