Four nights in Hyogo: a Himeji night or day trips from Kobe?
For an early Himeji Castle visit, stay in Himeji the previous night. For separate Himeji and Arima day trips without changing accommodation, stay four nights in Sannomiya.
Himeji uses JR; Arima needs subway/Kobe Electric Railway changes. The Himeji-night plan returns to Sannomiya after castle/Koko-en for the final two nights in Kobe.

One night in Himeji before a morning castle visit

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit Himeji Castle from the morning after staying there?
With a Himeji night, travel there the previous day to see the castle exterior, then visit the tower around the standard 09:00 opening the next day. Check the station-to-accommodation and castle walks. Admission queues may form even at opening.
Himeji Castle prices, hours and station accessHimeji Castle visit duration, stairs and re-entry FAQ
Should I add subway fares to Arima’s JPY 720?
The verified adult one-way JPY 720 covers Sannomiya via Tanigami to Kobe Electric Railway Arima Onsen. Do not add Sannomiya–Tanigami subway again. Recheck regular fares for your actual date in the operator’s search.
Can I see Himeji Castle and Koko-en in one day from Kobe?
Leave Kobe in the morning and return after visiting both on the same day. Besides JR riding, allow the station-to-castle walk, tower stairs and queues, lunch and garden time. For a detailed castle visit, compare a Himeji night beforehand.

Does a JR pass to Himeji also cover Arima and harbour buses?
Count Kobe City Loop and Arima subway/Kobe Electric Railway separately from JR passes. Conventional Sannomiya–Himeji and Shinkansen via Shin-Kobe have different routes and pass conditions. Kansai Area excludes Shinkansen; for Kansai Wide, check eligible Sanyo segments and five consecutive days. Compare regular JR return JPY 1,920 with pass prices for actual routes and dates.

How does an Osaka night change the Kobe itinerary?
Reduce Kobe nights by the number spent in Osaka and choose which existing sightseeing day to replace. Four Sannomiya nights and a Himeji-night plan allocate nights differently. Decide whether to return to Kobe or continue elsewhere next day, then check JR travel, next accommodation’s location and check-in.
