Osaka sights: check admission and access first
Choose Osaka Castle Museum for history exhibitions inside the tower, or the Mozu visitor centre for footage and displays of the mound’s whole shape. For marine life, choose Kaiyukan; for views from above the city, choose Umeda’s Floating Garden. Compare Dotonbori riverside and Namba Parks garden for walks near Namba, or Minoh Falls for a longer riverside walk. Check garden opening, path restrictions and the time needed to walk back. Admission and transport costs are separate.

Osaka Castle Museum

See exhibitions about Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the castle’s history inside Osaka Castle’s tower. You do not need a tower ticket just to see the exterior and walk beside the moat. Other paid areas in the park are separate.
- AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 1,200 for adults and JPY 600 for university and high school students. Junior high students and younger enter free, subject to proof requirements. Check official guidance for overseas students’ ISIC and age evidence.
- Opening hoursThe castle museum opens from 09:00 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. It closes from 28 December to 1 January. The ticket queue may close earlier when busy.
- Getting thereFrom Chuo line Tanimachi 4-chome exit 9, or Morinomiya exits 1 and 3-B, follow park signs to the tower. The official FAQ lists about 15–20 minutes on foot from the station. The Tanimachi 4-chome route through Otemon Gate is described as relatively level. A standard museum visit takes 50–60 minutes, or about 90 minutes for more detail. Ticket and admission queues are extra.

Dotonbori

See the signs near Ebisubashi and walk beside the river before dinner. Allow different meal times for a quick takoyaki snack or a seated okonomiyaki meal. The street walk includes no paid facility admission; food, performances and cruises cost extra.

- Getting thereFollow street signs from Namba towards Dotonbori and Ebisubashi. Tourism bureau guidance for the promenade gives about five minutes from Midosuji line Namba or ten minutes from Nankai Namba and JR Namba. These times do not start at the platform or your accommodation door, and vary by exit.

Floating Garden Observatory
KUCHU TEIEN OBSERVATORY空中庭園展望台
Look over Osaka’s city streets and river from the Floating Garden Observatory. See the scenery indoors before walking on the rooftop Sky Walk. Admission is charged, and rooftop access follows that day’s operational guidance. Use the dedicated observatory entrance rather than office lifts.
- AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 2,000 for adults and JPY 500 for children aged 4–12. Special opening sessions have separate ticket conditions.
- Opening hoursThe observatory opens from 09:30 to 22:30, with last admission at 22:00. Special operating days have different hours.
- Getting thereThe official walk is about seven minutes from JR Osaka or nine minutes from Metro Umeda. After a Midosuji line arrival, leave Umeda’s North Gate towards Yodobashi Umeda, pass LINKS UMEDA, walk between Grand Front’s north and south buildings, cross the junction and use the short underpass in official guidance. Return to street level and cross to the Sky Building. The nine-minute walk starts at this station; accommodation travel, platform walking and ticket queues are extra.

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN海遊館
Choose Kaiyukan to spend time watching marine life in large tanks. Select your date’s hours and tickets first, and plan meals before or after visiting. Re-entry ended on 15 June 2026.
- AdmissionPrices vary by date. The selection for 8 October 2026 showed ages 16 and over JPY 2,800; ages 7–15 JPY 1,400; ages 3–6 JPY 700; ages 2 and younger free. The same calendar showed adult prices of JPY 3,200 for 10 October and JPY 3,500 for 11 and 12 October. Select your booking date first.
- Opening hoursHours for 8 October 2026 were 10:30–20:00. Check the operating calendar for other dates. Last admission is one hour before closing.
- Getting thereWalk about five minutes from Chuo line Osakako exit 1, following signs towards the Ferris wheel and Tempozan Marketplace. Official school-group guidance allows 90–120 minutes for one circuit. Entry queues, meals and station travel are extra. Allow longer to watch the animals or take breaks with children.

Minoh Falls
箕面大滝
Choose this for a longer riverside walk instead of city shopping. The waterfall is about 40–50 minutes on foot from Hankyu Minoh station, so allow for the return walk and breaks. The path has no night lighting. The waterfall walk includes no paid facility visits; transport and snacks cost extra.
- Opening hoursThis itinerary walks in daylight. Check park restrictions and weather notices before leaving.
- Getting thereFrom Hankyu Osaka-umeda, take the Takarazuka line to Ishibashi handai-mae and change to the Minoh line. Enter the waterfall path from Minoh station. Do not confuse it with Minoh-kayano station.

Emperor Nintoku’s burial mound
Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun仁徳天皇陵古墳
Aerial footage at Mozu’s free visitor centre shows the enormous mound’s whole shape. Emperor Nintoku’s burial mound is viewed from outside; visitors do not enter it. For the outside worship area, check the hours below and restrictions for your date together. Use the visitor-centre exhibitions as your itinerary if access is restricted. Museums and gardens are separate choices.
- Getting thereWalk about ten minutes west from JR Hanwa line Mozu station. From Tennoji, select a service that stops at Mozu.
- Opening hoursStandard outside worship-area hours are 08:30–17:00. Worship is normally available year-round but may be restricted on weekends, Japanese public holidays, 29 December–3 January, or for ceremonies and management. Check guidance for your date and visit only the centre’s exhibitions if access is restricted.

Mozu Mounded Tombs Visitor Center

The mound’s whole shape is difficult to see from the ground. Start with these free exhibitions to explore the burial-mound group through displays and aerial footage.
- AdmissionStandard admission is free. Meals, cycling, luggage storage and separate experiences are excluded.
- Opening hoursThe visitor centre opens from 09:00 to 18:00 and closes from 29 December to 3 January. These facility hours differ from access hours at the worship area.
- Getting thereThe centre is 350 metres west of JR Hanwa line Mozu station and east of Emperor Nintoku’s worship area. This differs from the roughly ten-minute walk from Mozu station to the mound.

Namba Parks garden
Parks Gardenパークスガーデン
Choose this for a departure-morning garden walk without leaving Namba. The rooftop garden extends across levels 2–9 of the Namba Parks shopping centre. Explore from the lower levels, then descend when time requires.
- AdmissionSelf-guided garden visits are free. Paid guided tours, cinema, meals and shopping are excluded.
- Opening hoursThe garden opens from 10:00 to 24:00, with the same closure days as Namba Parks. Shops open from 11:00 to 21:00 and restaurants from 11:00 to 22:00, with some venue exceptions. Garden and store opening times differ.
- Getting thereNamba Parks connects to Nankai Namba. Official facility guidance lists about seven minutes from Midosuji line Namba, ten minutes from Sennichimae line Namba, or 15 minutes from Yotsubashi line Namba and JR Namba. Accommodation-to-station travel and moving from the building entrance to garden levels are extra.

Frequently asked questions
Do I pay castle tower admission if I only visit the park?
No tower ticket is needed to see the castle exterior from the park. Adult admission to the tower’s exhibitions is JPY 1,200. Other paid park facilities are separate.

Can I leave Kaiyukan for a meal and re-enter?
Re-entry ended on 15 June 2026. Plan meals before or after visiting.
Is 40–50 minutes from Minoh station to the falls enough for the return trip too?
Official guidance is for the one-way walk from Minoh station to the falls. Add a rest at the waterfall, the same-path return, meals and train waiting. Distinguish this from guidance starting at Minoh-kayano and finish walking in daylight.
