What should you see on a short trip?
Give Dejima and Glover Garden separate days for historic buildings and views, or choose the Atomic Bomb Museum and Dejima for bombing and peace exhibitions. Shorten day-one visits for a late arrival; omit day-two sightseeing before a morning flight.

Give Dejima and Glover Garden separate days
Choose this for historic trade and Western-style houses in a port city. Spend one night near Nagasaki Station, visiting Dejima first and Glover Garden the next day. Day-two sightseeing requires an afternoon departure with enough time for airport check-in.

Day one: leave luggage at accommodation, then Dejima
Leave luggage at accommodation before exploring Dejima's displays. For a late arrival, shorten the visit around gate opening hours.

Leave luggage at your booked accommodation, return to the tram stop and take line 1 towards Sofukuji to Dejima. Adult cash fare is JPY 150 per ride. Official guidance lists about seven-minute intervals between 09:00 and 19:59, subject to traffic delays. Outside that window, check the direction-specific Nagasaki-Ekimae timetable.

- Dejima tram stop → Dejima entrance
The official access guide lists about a one-minute walk from the stop. The Water Gate closes at 18:00, while the main bridge gate operates until 21:00. For a late arrival, check which entrance is open. The one-minute estimate does not cover every gate.
- Dejima entrance → Exhibitions
Adult admission is JPY 1,100. Allow one and a half to two hours, shortening the visit if arrival or transport is delayed. Dejima opens 08:00–21:00, with last admission at 20:40. Re-entry is not permitted.
- After Dejima → Meal near Shinchi
After the exhibitions, walk towards Shinchi for dinner. The official access guide lists about four minutes from Shinchi Chinatown tram stop to Dejima, rather than the walk from your actual exit to a restaurant. Allow separate walking and meal time. Re-entry is not permitted, so do not plan to return inside after dinner.
- Shinchi Chinatown tram stop → Nagasaki-Ekimae

- Nagasaki-Ekimae → Shinchi Chinatown tram stop

Change to line 5 towards Ishibashi and ride to the terminus. Cash payment requires another JPY 150 on this tram. Official intervals are about 11 minutes between 09:00 and 19:59; allow for actual waits and delays. The IC transfer discount requires boarding the second tram within 30 minutes of getting off at Shinchi and paying the full fare with one card per person. Cash payments or topping up an insufficient balance with another payment method do not qualify.

- Ishibashi tram stop → Sky Road boarding point
Walk about three minutes to Sky Road. This estimate covers the stop-to-boarding-point walk only; lift waits and onward travel to the gate take extra time.
- Sky Road boarding point → Glover Garden Gate 2
Take the free inclined lift, walk along the connecting path and change to the vertical lift. Continue to Gate 2 in the upper garden. The inclined lift ride takes just over two minutes; Sky Road operates 06:00–23:30. Allow separate time for the connecting path, vertical lift, gate walk and waits. These are excluded from the three-minute stop-to-Sky-Road walk.

- Glover Garden Gate 2 → Garden and historic buildings
Gate 2 does not accept card payments, so prepare another payment method. Adult admission is JPY 1,300. Allow one and a half to two hours for the gardens and buildings, taking breaks on slopes and stone paths. Standard hours are 08:00–18:00, with last admission 20 minutes before closing. Check the official calendar below for extended hours, private bookings and weather-related changes on your date.
- After exploring the garden → Gate 2 exit
To return towards Ishibashi, go back to Gate 2, marked as both entrance and exit on the official map. This differs from a route exiting downhill. Allow extra time to walk uphill again; it is excluded from sightseeing and the three-minute tram-stop walk. Check on-site guidance for access restrictions that day.
- Outside Gate 2 → Sky Road, then Ishibashi stop
Descend using the vertical lift, connecting path and inclined lift, then walk back to Ishibashi stop. This retraces the official arrival route. Allow separate time for the gate-to-stop walk and lift waits.

- After Level 1 check-in → Level 2 departures and boarding gate
Follow your flight's domestic or international departure signs on Level 2 to security and the boarding gate. For international travel, allow time for departure immigration and check the airline's boarding deadline.
Travel from Ishibashi via Sky Road to Gate 2 and return the same way. Lift waits and the gate walk are excluded from the three-minute stop-to-Sky-Road estimate. Allow time to collect luggage at your station-area accommodation and reach airport-bound stand 4 in the prefectural bus terminal.
Included items: Dejima and Glover Garden JPY 2,400 + six cash tram fares JPY 900 + standard airport bus return fares JPY 2,800
Costs outside the subtotal: Accommodation, meals, flights, luggage storage, extra transfers or taxis between accommodation and boarding points, and optional facilities.
This subtotal uses standard adult cash fares. Sky Road is free; garden admission is included. IC discounts, passes and optional sightseeing change the total. If both Shinchi transfers on the Glover Garden return trip qualify for the discount, six tram boardings cost four fares, JPY 600, reducing the subtotal to JPY 5,800. If Glover Garden does not fit your flight, subtract its JPY 1,300 admission and that day's four cash tram fares of JPY 600, then go directly to the airport. Check actual airport services and any extra transport separately.

General admission is JPY 200; senior high school students and younger enter free with proof such as a student card. Last admission is 17:00 in September–April and 18:00 in May–August. Omit this visit on 29–31 December. Before visiting, check the official link below for partial exhibition suspensions. Displays outside work areas remain open, and planned section closures may change. - After the museum or hypocentre park walk → Atomic Bomb Museum or Peace Park tram stop
After a museum-only visit, retrace the route to its tram stop. For an outdoor walk, follow the city map's red downhill route from the museum's vehicle drop-off area to the hypocentre in Peace Park. The city guide marks the outdoor lift linking the museum and hypocentre as out of service. After the walk, head to Peace Park stop. The official one-minute estimate covers Peace Park stop to the hypocentre, excluding the full museum–hypocentre–stop route and time exploring.

The Peace Statue is a different walk from this hypocentre route. After the exhibitions, decide on a meal and extra walking around remaining time and distance. The full museum–hypocentre walk, meals and outdoor visit are excluded from the 90-minute exhibition estimate. Return to Nagasaki-Ekimae on a station-bound tram from your chosen stop.
Day two: Dejima, then Nagasaki Airport
Add Dejima only if you can return for an afternoon flight. After checkout, leave luggage only if you have confirmed storage availability, fees and collection time with accommodation. If storage is unavailable or airport check-in would be tight, omit sightseeing and go to the airport.

Costs outside the subtotal: Accommodation, meals, flights, luggage storage, extra transfers or taxis between accommodation and boarding points, optional paid facilities and audio guides.
This subtotal uses standard adult cash fares. It includes two tram rides on each day, JPY 300 per day. Returning from Peace Park stop after a hypocentre walk uses the same single day-one return ride, without extra tram fares.
