Glover Garden combines historic Western-style houses with Nagasaki harbour views. Follow stone paths past buildings with Japanese tiled roofs to explore the former foreign settlement from the port-opening era. Allow one and a half to two hours for the gardens and buildings, including breaks on slopes and stone paths.

  • AdmissionGeneral admission costs JPY 1,300 or JPY 650 for primary, junior and senior high school students. Rates changed in April 2026.
  • HoursStandard hours are 08:00–18:00, with last admission 20 minutes before closing. Night openings and private bookings may change the closing time; check the official calendar for your date.
  • Getting thereTake line 5 from Shinchi Chinatown towards Ishibashi and get off at the terminus. Walk about three minutes to Sky Road, then use the lifts to reach Gate 2. Gate 2 does not accept cards, so prepare another payment method.

Visit Dejima to explore Japan's trade with the Netherlands during the Edo period. See reconstructed trading-post buildings and displays of life at the time. Allow one and a half to two hours. Re-entry is not permitted, so finish the indoor visit before eating outside.

  • AdmissionGeneral admission costs JPY 1,100 or JPY 550 for primary, junior and senior high school students. Re-entry is not permitted.
  • HoursDejima opens 08:00–21:00, with last admission at 20:40. The main bridge gate stays open until 21:00 and the Water Gate until 18:00.
  • Getting thereTake line 1 from Nagasaki-Ekimae towards Sofukuji, get off at Dejima and walk about one minute to the entrance. Official access from Shinchi Chinatown stop is about four minutes on foot. For late visits, check the main bridge entrance rather than heading to the closed Water Gate.

Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum

Visit for exhibitions on the atomic bombing and peace. Allow separate time for reading the museum displays and walking in Peace Park. Allow around 90 minutes for exhibitions. With children, review the subject matter and plan rest breaks first.

  • AdmissionGeneral admission is JPY 200. From 1 April 2026, senior high school students and younger enter free with proof such as a student card at permanent-exhibition reception. The adjacent National Peace Memorial Hall is free and a separate facility.
  • HoursThe museum opens 08:30–17:30 in September–April, with last admission at 17:00. In May–August, it opens until 18:30, with last admission at 18:00. On 7–9 August, it opens until 20:00, with last admission at 19:30. It closes 29–31 December.
  • Getting thereTake line 1 or 3 towards Akasako from Nagasaki-Ekimae, get off at the Atomic Bomb Museum stop and walk about five minutes to the facility. Check the station-bound direction for your return.
  • Exhibition accessPart of area A is closed for exhibition renewal from 10 September to 10 October 2026. Planned closures are area C from 24 November 2026 to March 2027, part of area B from late December 2026 to March 2027, and area D in January–March 2027. Other displays remain open. Works may change these dates, so check notices for your visit.

Mount Inasa · 稲佐山 Plan dinner and viewing time separately for Mount Inasa's night views. Cloud changes visibility. With a reserved free shuttle, travel from your booked boarding point to Fuchi Shrine station, ride the ropeway to Inasadake and walk about three minutes to the deck. Adult ropeway return fare is JPY 1,900. Select the corresponding return bus in the official booking screen. After viewing, allow time for ropeway descent, the bus-stop walk and waiting. If booking fails or services are suspended, arrange an actual alternative or move the outing to another day.

  • AdmissionGeneral fares are JPY 1,900 return or JPY 1,040 one way. Rates apply from April 2026.
  • HoursThe ropeway operates 09:00–22:00, with last ascent listed as 21:00. The ride takes about five minutes; queues and the observation-deck walk take extra time. Services are suspended in strong winds or for maintenance.
  • Getting thereRide from Fuchi Shrine to Inasadake station, then walk about three minutes to the deck. For the free shuttle, check hotel or station boarding points and booking availability on the official page first. The shuttle requires a reservation.

Kujukushima Cruising Boat Pearl Queen

九十九島遊覧船パールクィーン

Pearl Queen sails between small islands for sea views, departing from Pearl Sea Resort in Sasebo. The standard cruise takes about 50 minutes; reaching the resort requires another bus from Sasebo Station. Allow half a day for return buses, ticketing and waits. The official 25-minute regular bus or 18-minute express ride excludes waits and the pier walk. Individuals get tickets at the counter on the day. Check your sailing's operation and ticket cutoff alongside return buses. Express and regular bus timetables differ.

  • AdmissionCruise fares are JPY 2,200 for senior high school students and older or JPY 1,100 for ages four through junior high school. The standard cruise takes about 50 minutes. Capacity is 280 passengers with 118 seats, so not everyone is guaranteed a seat.
  • DeparturesSailings usually depart around 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00, with seasonal suspensions or extra sailings. Individuals obtain a timed ticket at the counter on the day, separate from group bookings for 15 or more. Strong wind or heavy rain may cause cancellations.
  • Getting thereTake a Pearl Sea Resort and Kujukushima Aquarium-bound bus from Sasebo-Ekimae stand 6. The regular ride takes about 25 minutes; express about 18 minutes. Adult fare is JPY 390 one way. Check return buses when you arrive.

Can I board Mount Inasa's free bus without a reservation?

The free shuttle requires a same-day reservation. From JR Nagasaki Station, use the east-exit traffic plaza boarding point and show the driver your confirmation. Choose the return corresponding to your outward service. Ropeway fares cost extra.

Is Pearl Queen always cancelled in rain?

Light rain may allow sailing, but heavy rain or strong winds may lead the captain to cancel. Check the operator's same-day notices.

Can I leave Dejima and re-enter with the same ticket?

Re-entry is not permitted. Finish the visit before meals or other sightseeing, then continue to the next stop. For evening visits, check last admission and exit hours separately.
