At Glover Garden, see historic Western-style homes alongside views of Nagasaki Harbor. Walk the stone paths past Western-style buildings with Japanese tiled roofs for a look at the foreign settlement from the port-opening era. Allow 1½–2 hours for the gardens and buildings, with extra room for breaks on the slopes and stone paths.

Explore Dejima if you are interested in how Japan and the Netherlands traded during the Edo period. Visit reconstructed trading-post buildings and exhibitions about life at the time. Allow 1½–2 hours. Reentry is not allowed, so finish your visit before having a meal outside.

  • HoursDejima is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with last admission at 8:40 p.m. The main entrance bridge operates until 9 p.m.; the water gate closes at 6 p.m.
  • Getting thereTake Line 1 toward Sofukuji from Nagasaki-ekimae to Dejima stop, then walk about one minute to an entrance. The official route from Shinchi Chinatown stop is about a four-minute walk. For a late visit, check main entrance bridge directions rather than heading to the closed water gate.

Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum

Visit the Atomic Bomb Museum for exhibitions about the bombing's devastation and peace. Allow separate time for the museum displays and a Peace Park walk. Set aside about 1½ hours for the exhibitions. With children, consider the exhibition content and breaks before visiting.

  • AdmissionGeneral admission is ¥200. From April 1, 2026, high school students and younger enter free with student ID or other proof at the permanent-exhibition reception. The neighboring national peace memorial hall is free and is a separate facility.
  • HoursSeptember–April hours are 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with admission until 5 p.m. The museum closes at 6:30 p.m. May–August, with admission until 6 p.m. August 7–9 has extended hours until 8 p.m., with admission until 7:30 p.m. The museum closes December 29–31.
  • Getting thereFrom Nagasaki-ekimae, take Line 1 or 3 toward Akasako to Atomic Bomb Museum stop, then walk about five minutes to the facility. Check the Nagasaki Station direction for your return.
  • Exhibition availabilityExhibition renewal closes part of Area A September 10–October 10, 2026. Planned closures are Area C from November 24, 2026 through March 2027; part of Area B from late December 2026 through March 2027; and Area D January–March 2027. Exhibitions outside construction areas remain open. Dates may change with work progress, so check notices for your visit date.

Mount Inasa · 稲佐山 For the Mount Inasa night view, allow separate time for dinner and the observation deck. Cloudy weather changes the view. If you have reserved the free shuttle, board at your reserved location for Fuchi-jinja Station, take the ropeway to Inasa-dake Station, then walk about three minutes to the observation deck. The adult ropeway round trip costs ¥1,900. Choose the return service corresponding to your outbound bus on the official reservation screen. Allow for the downward ropeway ride, walk to the bus stop, and waiting after the view. If you cannot reserve or services are canceled, arrange actual alternative transportation or move the night view to another day.

  • AdmissionGeneral fares are ¥1,900 round trip or ¥1,040 one way, effective from April 2026.
  • HoursHours are 9 a.m.–10 p.m., with the last upward departure listed at 9 p.m. The ride takes about five minutes; queues and the walk to the observation deck take additional time. Strong winds and maintenance can suspend operations.

Kujukushima Cruising Boat Pearl Queen

九十九島遊覧船パールクィーン

Pearl Queen sails among Kujukushima's small islands for coastal views. The regular cruise takes about 50 minutes and leaves from Pearl Sea Resort in Sasebo. You need an additional bus from Sasebo Station to the resort. Allow half a day for the round-trip bus, tickets, and waiting. The official regular-bus ride of about 25 minutes or express ride of about 18 minutes excludes waits and the walk to the pier. Individual visitors get tickets at the counter on the day. Check your boat's operations, ticketing deadline, and return bus together. Express and regular-route timetables differ.

  • AdmissionHigh school students and older pay ¥2,200; ages 4 through junior high school pay ¥1,100. The regular cruise takes about 50 minutes. There are 118 seats for a capacity of 280 passengers, so not everyone is guaranteed a seat.
  • DeparturesRegular departures are around 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., with seasonal suspensions and additional services. Individuals get tickets for a specified sailing at the same-day counter, separate from group reservations for 15 or more. Strong winds or heavy rain can cancel sailings.
  • Getting thereFrom Sasebo Station stop 6, take a bus toward Pearl Sea Resort/Kujukushima Aquarium. The regular ride takes about 25 minutes or the express about 18 minutes; the adult one-way fare is ¥390. Check the return-bus time when you get off.

The free shuttle requires a same-day reservation. To board at JR Nagasaki Station, go to the East Exit transport plaza boarding point and show the driver your reservation confirmation screen. Choose the return bus corresponding to your outbound service. Ropeway tickets cost extra.

Can I leave Dejima and reenter with the same ticket?
