Visit Dejima and Glover Garden on separate days

Choose this itinerary for the port city's trade history and historic Western-style homes. Stay one night near Nagasaki Station, visiting Dejima on day one and Glover Garden on day two. The second-day visit works only with an afternoon departure that leaves enough time for airport check-in.

Day 1: leave your luggage at the hotel, then visit Dejima

Leave your luggage at the hotel before exploring Dejima's exhibitions. If you arrive late, shorten the visit to fit the entrance hours.

  1. Nagasaki Airport first-floor arrivals → City-bound bus stop 5

After immigration and baggage claim, check stop 5 for services via Dejima Road toward Nagasaki Station. This differs from stop 4 services via Showamachi.

  2. Airport bus stop 5 → Nagasaki Station transport plaza

Take the airport bus via Dejima Road to the Nagasaki Station transport plaza. The adult one-way fare is ¥1,400 and the ride takes about 43 minutes, excluding waiting and traffic delays. Choose a service you can reach after arrival from the official timetable below. On departure, you board at the prefectural bus terminal, a different location.

The official frequency between 9 a.m. and 7:59 p.m. is about seven minutes, with possible road delays. Outside that period, check the direction-specific Nagasaki-ekimae timetable.

  4. Dejima tram stop → Dejima entrance

The official access guide gives a walk of about one minute from the stop. The water gate closes at 6 p.m.; the main entrance bridge operates until 9 p.m. If arriving late, check which entrance is open. The one-minute walk does not apply to every entrance.

  5. Dejima entrance → Exhibition visit

Adult admission is ¥1,100. Allow 1½–2 hours for the visit, shortening it if arrival or transportation runs late. Hours are 8 a.m.–9 p.m., with last admission at 8:40 p.m. Reentry is not allowed.

Dejima admission, hours, access, and airport-bus fare

  6. After visiting Dejima → Dinner near Shinchi

Walk toward Shinchi for dinner after the exhibition. The official access guide gives about four minutes on foot from Shinchi Chinatown stop to Dejima; your actual exit-to-restaurant walk and meal time are separate. Reentry is not allowed, so do not plan to enter again after dinner.

Day 2: Glover Garden, then Nagasaki Airport

Visit Glover Garden only if you can return in time for an afternoon flight. For a morning flight or insufficient check-in time, skip sightseeing and go to the airport.

  1. Nagasaki-ekimae → Shinchi Chinatown tram stop

Take Line 1 toward Sofukuji to Shinchi Chinatown. The adult cash fare is ¥150. Check the Sofukuji-bound Nagasaki-ekimae timetable and distinguish services marked as not operating during school holidays.

  2. Shinchi Chinatown tram stop → Ishibashi tram stop

Change to Line 5 toward Ishibashi and get off at the terminus. With cash, pay another ¥150 on this tram. Services run about every 11 minutes between 9 a.m. and 7:59 p.m.; actual waiting and delays are additional. The IC transfer discount applies when you board the second tram within 30 minutes of leaving the first at Shinchi and pay the full fare for one person with one card. It does not apply to cash or fares completed with another payment method because of insufficient balance.

  4. Sky Road elevator boarding area → Glover Garden Gate 2

Take the free inclined elevator, walk along the connecting path, then transfer to the vertical elevator. Head to Gate 2 at the upper end of the garden. The inclined-elevator ride takes a little over two minutes; Sky Road operates 6 a.m.–11:30 p.m. Allow additional walking and waiting for the connecting path, vertical elevator, and route to the gate. These are outside the approximately three-minute walk from the tram stop to Sky Road.

  5. Glover Garden Gate 2 → Garden and building visit

Gate 2 does not accept card payments, so prepare another payment method. Adult admission is ¥1,300. Allow 1½–2 hours for the gardens and buildings, taking breaks on slopes and stone paths. Regular hours are 8 a.m.–6 p.m., with last admission 20 minutes before closing. Check the official operating calendar below for your date's extensions or changes due to private use or weather.

  6. After the garden visit → Gate 2 exit

To keep your return toward Ishibashi, go back to Gate 2, marked as an entrance and exit on the official map. This differs from following the sightseeing route down to the lower exit. Allow separate time for the uphill walk back; it is outside both your visit time and the three-minute stop approach. Check on-site information for that day's entry restrictions.

  7. Outside Gate 2 → Sky Road, then Ishibashi tram stop

  8. Ishibashi tram stop → Shinchi Chinatown tram stop

Return to Shinchi Chinatown on Line 5 toward Hotarujaya. The adult cash fare is ¥150. Check the official Ishibashi timetable for the return direction and school-holiday service cancellations. You cannot assume a tram will be ready as you leave the elevator; allow walking and waiting time.

  10. Hotel near Nagasaki Station → Nagasaki Station prefectural bus terminal

Collect any luggage stored at your hotel first, then go to stop 4 inside the prefectural bus terminal at Nagasaki Station. This differs from the transport plaza used on airport arrival and from roadside stops. Allow for luggage collection, walking from your hotel address, and waiting to board. Check the day's signs for the airport service. Travel time and cost from hotel to stop depend on your booked address.

  11. Prefectural bus terminal → Nagasaki Airport

The adult airport-bus fare via Dejima Road is ¥1,400 one way. Boarding is first come, first served without reservations; you cannot board if the bus is full. Choose a service in the official timetable below that leaves enough time for flight check-in. For a morning flight or a tight schedule, skip final-day sightseeing and leave for the airport early.

  13. After first-floor check-in → Second-floor departures and gate

Follow the second-floor domestic or international departure signs for your flight to security and the gate. For an international flight, allow time for departure formalities and check your airline's boarding deadline.

    Airport second-floor security and boarding

Enter through Gate 2 via Sky Road from Ishibashi and return the same way. Elevator waits and the walk to the gate are outside the approximately three-minute walk from the stop to Sky Road. Allow time to collect luggage at your station-area hotel and board the airport bus from stop 4 inside the prefectural bus terminal.

Subtotal of the listed inclusions: ¥6,100

Included items: Dejima and Glover Garden ¥2,400; six cash-fare tram rides ¥900; standard airport-bus round trip ¥2,800

Costs outside the subtotal: Hotels, meals, flights, luggage storage, additional hotel-to-stop transfers or taxis, and optional facilities.

This is a partial subtotal for one adult paying standard cash fares. Sky Road is free; garden admission is included. IC discounts, passes, and optional visits change the cost. If you meet the Shinchi transfer-discount conditions in both directions on the Glover Garden trip, you ride six trams but pay for four rides, or ¥600; the subtotal becomes ¥5,800. If the final visit does not fit your departure, subtract Glover admission of ¥1,300 and that day's four tram rides of ¥600, then go straight to the airport. Check actual airport-bus services and any additional travel costs separately.

Day 2: Dejima, then Nagasaki Airport

Add Dejima only if you can return in time for an afternoon flight. Leave luggage after checkout only after confirming storage, fees, and collection time with your hotel. If storage is unavailable or airport check-in would be tight, skip sightseeing and go to the airport.

This differs from the transport plaza used on airport arrival. Check whether your airport bus and check-in still fit after allowing for lunch, tram waits, and the hotel detour.

Subtotal of the listed inclusions: ¥4,700

Included items: Atomic Bomb Museum and Dejima ¥1,300; four cash-fare tram rides ¥600; standard airport-bus round trip ¥2,800

Costs outside the subtotal: Hotels, meals, flights, luggage storage, extra hotel-to-stop transfers or taxis, additional paid facilities, and audio guides.

This is a partial subtotal for one adult paying standard cash fares. It includes two tram rides on day one for ¥300 and a Dejima round trip on day two for ¥300. Returning from Peace Park stop after the outdoor hypocenter walk is already counted as the day-one return; it does not add a tram ride. If departure time is tight, removing Dejima admission of ¥1,100 and that day's ¥300 tram round trip gives a subtotal of ¥3,300 for the remaining listed items.
