Walk through Shureimon and the grounds for Ryukyu Kingdom history. Explore free areas or buy paid-area admission. Main Hall interior opening depends on your date; timed reservations are required after reopening.
- AdmissionThrough 21 November 2026, general admission costs JPY 400 for adults, JPY 300 for high school students and JPY 160 for primary and junior high students. From 23 November, it costs JPY 1,000 for adults, JPY 760 for high school students and JPY 370 for primary and junior high students. Under-6s enter free.
- Opening hoursFrom April–November, the paid area opens from 08:30 to 19:00, with last admission at 18:30. From December–March, it opens from 08:30 to 18:00, with last admission at 17:30. The free inner grounds open from 08:00 to 19:30 in April–November and from 08:00 to 18:30 in December–March.
- Dates and bookingsAll areas close 22 November 2026. On 23 November, free inner grounds are scheduled to open 11:15; the paid area and Main Hall interior are scheduled to open at noon. Main Hall interior thereafter needs a ticket including a reservation for your chosen date and time. Unreserved tickets exclude it. Same-day reservations depend on availability; choose your session before visiting.
- Getting thereTake Tedako-Uranishi-bound Yui Rail from Kencho-mae to Shuri. Official guidance gives roughly 15 minutes on foot to Shureimon; walking within the park is extra. For Main Hall bookings, the operator recommends a session 40–50 minutes after planned Shuri arrival.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Look for whale sharks and manta rays in Churaumi’s large Kuroshio Sea tank. See it from the front observation window and spaces looking up at fish from below. The separately ticketed aquarium is in Ocean Expo Park · 海洋博公園 in northern Motobu. For a Naha bus return, choose your return service first, then plan viewing time around it.
- AdmissionGeneral admission costs JPY 2,180 for adults, JPY 1,440 for high school students and JPY 710 for primary and junior high students. Preschool children under 6 enter free. School years follow Japan’s April boundary.
- Opening hoursStandard opening hours are 08:30–18:30, with last admission at 17:30. Official guidance lists no planned closures through 31 March 2027. Check current notices for temporary closures or changes.
- Getting thereTake northbound Yanbaru Express Bus from Kencho Kitaguchi and alight at Kinen Koen-mae. Official stop-to-aquarium entrance walking is roughly ten minutes. Airport-origin bus fares differ from Kencho Kitaguchi fares.
- Separate costsTropical Dream Center and paid sightseeing carts cost extra beyond regular aquarium admission. Aquarium admission is not charged across all of Ocean Expo Park.

Tropical Dream Center

See orchids up close and walk glasshouses with tropical fruit trees. Spend time on flowers and plants, complementing the aquarium’s marine life. Both are in Ocean Expo Park, but need separate tickets.
- AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 760 for high school students and older. Junior high students and younger enter free. Older guidance offering half price with regular aquarium admission no longer applies. Current half-price guidance covers aquarium annual-pass holders.
- Opening hoursThe botanical centre opens from 08:30 to 17:30, with last admission at 17:00. It closes on Wednesdays from 1 July 2026–31 March 2027, or the immediately following weekday if Wednesday is a public holiday. Check separately: the botanical centre may close while the aquarium opens.
- Getting thereEnter Central Gate after alighting at Kinen Koen-mae and find Tropical Dream Center on the park map. Check the facility name rather than only following aquarium directions. Allow walking from the gate separately.
- Glasshouses and facility namesGlasshouses include orchids and tropical fruit trees. Official Japanese guidance also uses 美ら島植物園(熱帯ドリームセンター).

Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum

Choose permanent museum displays for Okinawa’s nature and history, or art collection displays for artworks. Each needs its own admission. For both on the same day, check the 1DAY pass period.
- AdmissionExhibition guidance for 25 September–28 November, checked 9 October 2026: general adult admission costs JPY 530 for the permanent museum exhibition and JPY 400 for the art collection, or JPY 750 for a same-day 1DAY pass covering both. It excludes some special exhibitions. Recheck exhibitions/prices after the period ends.
- Opening hoursOpening hours are 09:00–18:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, with last admission at 17:30. On Friday and Saturday, they are 09:00–20:00, with last admission at 19:30. Monday closure moves to the next weekday for applicable holidays. It also closes from 29 December 2026–3 January 2027.
- Getting thereWalk roughly ten minutes from Omoromachi, or 15 at a slower pace. Following the 8 September 2026 notice, the side entrance/rear gate remain closed for the time being; use the front entrance.

Fukushuen

Visit Fukushuen for a leisurely garden walk between Naha shops. Walk from Kencho-mae and combine it with a city meal. Day/night admission differs; choose tickets for your visiting time.
- AdmissionFrom 09:00 to 18:00, admission costs JPY 200 for adults and JPY 100 for children. From 18:00 to 21:00, it costs JPY 300 for adults and JPY 150 for children. High school students and over use adult admission; preschool children enter free.
- Hours and closuresThe garden opens from 09:00 to 21:00, with last admission at 20:30. It closes on Wednesdays, or the next day if Wednesday is a public holiday. Check event/replacement closure notices separately.

First Makishi Public Market and Kokusai Street

Choose fish at Makishi Market for a meal, exploring Okinawan ingredients. Some ingredients bought on Level 1 can be cooked by Level 2 restaurants. Ask which ingredients qualify and confirm ingredient and cooking charges before ordering. Explore Kokusai Street shops before or after meals. Market shops have individual hours.

- Hours and closuresThe market building opens from 08:00 to 22:00, but individual shop hours differ. Last orders for cooking eligible ingredients bought on Level 1 are at 19:45; Level 2 restaurants take last orders at 20:00. The market closes on the fourth Sunday each month except December, when it opens daily. Individual shops close for New Year, Lunar New Year and lunar-calendar Obon.
- Getting thereOfficial walks: Makishi nine minutes; Miebashi ten minutes. Kencho-mae is near southern Kokusai Street, allowing street sightseeing while walking from accommodation to the market.

Walk Gyokusendo cave and try crafts at Okinawa World. Give southern Nanjo City · 南城市 a day for underground scenery and making something yourself. Standard entry starts with the cave; crafts cost extra. Wheelchair/pram access differs between cave and other areas. The cave is excluded from officially listed accessible areas.
- AdmissionAdmission costs JPY 2,000 for visitors aged 15 and over and JPY 1,000 for ages 4–14. Crafts cost extra.
- Opening hoursOpening hours are 09:00–17:30, with last reception at 16:00. The operator recommends three to five hours overall.
- Getting thereFor vehicles, use the official address: 1336 Maekawa, Tamagusuku, Nanjo. The facility’s roughly 30–40 minutes from Naha Airport may increase with road conditions. It excludes accommodation departure travel and hire-car collection.
- ParkingOkinawa tourism guidance lists free parking for 400 vehicles, with data updated 21 October 2025. Spaces on your date are not guaranteed. Check the parking-to-ticket-office walk separately. Tourism facility information checked 8 October 2026.
- Bus alternativeFrom Naha Bus Terminal, take route 54 Maekawa or 83 Gyokusendo to Gyokusendo-mae, then walk two minutes. Southern days in four-/five-day plan B use hire cars or booked return vehicles with drivers. Switching to buses requires choosing both directions in operator timetables linked by official access guidance.
- MealsOfficial guidance says soba restaurant Nantoya is temporarily closed from 13 February 2026. Confirm SANGO’s same-day hours if eating there. After checking restaurant hours, choose park lunch or dinner after returning to Naha.

Is Shurijo admission JPY 400 or JPY 1,000?
General adult paid-area admission is JPY 400 through 21 November 2026 and JPY 1,000 from 23 November. All areas close on 22 November. On the 23rd, free inner grounds open 11:15; the paid area and Main Hall interior are scheduled to open at noon. Two-day plan A that day needs a flight allowing afternoon viewing, accommodation luggage collection and airport check-in. Main Hall interior from 23 November requires a ticket with a reservation for your chosen date and time; unreserved tickets exclude it. Official admission/booking guidance checked 8 October 2026.

Does showing an aquarium ticket give half-price Tropical Dream Center admission?
Regular, group and externally sold aquarium tickets do not qualify. Current official half-price eligibility covers aquarium annual passes. General adult Tropical Dream Center admission is separately JPY 760. Discount conditions checked 8 October 2026.
Can I visit Makishi Market on Sunday?
