Walk through Shureimon and the castle grounds to learn about the Ryukyu Kingdom at Shurijo Castle Park. You can explore the free areas or buy a ticket for the paid section. Seiden interior access depends on your visit date; after reopening, it requires a timed reservation.

  • AdmissionThrough November 21, 2026, admission costs ¥400 for adults, ¥300 for high school students, and ¥160 for elementary and junior high school students. From November 23, those rates become ¥1,000, ¥760, and ¥370, respectively. Children under 6 enter free.
  • HoursFrom April–November, the paid area opens 8:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., with last admission at 6:30 p.m. From December–March, it opens 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with last admission at 5:30 p.m. The free area inside the walls opens 8:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m., respectively.
  • Dates and reservationsAll areas close on November 22, 2026. On November 23, the free area inside the walls is scheduled to open at 11:15 a.m., and the paid area and Seiden interior at noon. From then, the interior requires a ticket with a date and time reservation. A ticket without a reservation does not include interior entry. Same-day reservations are available only when spaces remain; choose your time before visiting.
  • Getting thereTake Yui Rail toward Tedako-Uranishi from Kenchomae to Shuri. The official guide lists about 15 minutes on foot from Shuri Station to Shureimon; allow additional time inside the park. For a Seiden reservation, the operator recommends a slot 40–50 minutes after your expected arrival at Shuri Station.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium

Look for the large tank with whale sharks and manta rays at Churaumi Aquarium. View the Kuroshio Sea tank through its main window, then see the fish from below in the Aqua Room. The aquarium is inside Ocean Expo Park · 海洋博公園 in Motobu, in the northern part of the main island, and requires separate admission. For a bus trip from Naha, choose your return service before deciding how long to spend here.

  • AdmissionAdmission costs ¥2,180 for adults, ¥1,440 for high school students, and ¥710 for elementary and junior high school students. Preschool children under 6 enter free. School-year categories follow Japan's April school-year cutoff.
  • HoursThe aquarium usually opens 8:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m., with last admission at 5:30 p.m. The official guide lists no scheduled closure days through March 31, 2027. Check the latest notices for temporary closures or operating changes.
  • Getting thereTake a northbound Yanbaru Express Bus from Kencho Kitaguchi and get off at Kinen Koen Mae. The official guide lists about 10 minutes on foot from the stop to the aquarium entrance. Fares from the airport differ from fares from Kencho Kitaguchi.
  • Additional costsOrdinary aquarium admission does not include every attraction or service, such as Tropical Dream Center and paid sightseeing carts. The aquarium admission fee does not apply to all of Ocean Expo Park.

See orchids up close and walk through greenhouses with tropical fruit trees at Tropical Dream Center. After the aquarium's marine life, slow down to explore flowers and plants. Both attractions are in Ocean Expo Park, but you need a separate botanical-garden ticket.

  • AdmissionAdmission costs ¥760 for visitors of high school age and older. Visitors of junior high school age and younger enter free. Older advice about half-price admission with an ordinary aquarium ticket no longer applies. The current half-price offer is for aquarium annual-pass holders.
  • HoursThe center opens 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with last admission at 5:00 p.m. From July 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, it closes on Wednesdays; if Wednesday is a public holiday, it closes on the next weekday. Check this facility separately—the aquarium can be open while the botanical garden is closed.
  • Getting thereGet off at Kinen Koen Mae, enter through the Central Gate, and use the park map to find Tropical Dream Center. Check the facility name rather than following only the aquarium signs. Allow separate walking time from the gate.
  • Greenhouses and facility namesThe center has orchid greenhouses and greenhouses with tropical fruit trees. Its official Japanese guide also uses the name 美ら島植物園(熱帯ドリームセンター).

Choose the museum's permanent exhibition for Okinawa's nature and history, or the art museum's collection exhibition if you prefer artworks. Each requires admission. To see both on the same day, check the 1DAY pass's validity period.

  • AdmissionThe exhibition information for September 25–November 28, checked October 9, 2026, lists adult admission of ¥530 for the museum's permanent exhibition, ¥400 for the art collection exhibition, and ¥750 for a 1DAY pass covering both on the same day. Not every special exhibition is included. Recheck the official exhibition and fare information after that period ends.
  • HoursOn Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, the museum opens 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with last admission at 5:30 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, it opens 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., with last admission at 7:30 p.m. It closes Mondays; when a Monday is a public holiday or another qualifying day, the closure moves to the next weekday. It also closes December 29, 2026–January 3, 2027.
  • Getting thereWalk about 10 minutes from Omoromachi Station, or about 15 minutes at a slower pace. Under the September 8, 2026 notice, the side entrance and rear gate remain closed for the time being. Use the main entrance.

Stop at Fukushuen for a relaxed garden walk between browsing Naha's shops. It is within walking distance of Kenchomae Station, making it easy to combine with a meal in town. Daytime and nighttime admission differ, so choose your ticket for the time you plan to visit.

Walk through Gyokusendo Cave and try crafts inside Okinawa World. If underground scenery and hands-on activities appeal to you, spend a day in Nanjo City · 南城市 in the south. General admission begins with the cave; craft activities cost extra. For wheelchair or stroller users, access conditions differ between the cave and other areas. The cave is excluded from the facility's officially listed accessible areas.

  • AdmissionAdmission costs ¥2,000 for ages 15 and older and ¥1,000 for ages 4–14. Craft activities cost extra.
  • HoursThe park opens 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with last admission at 4:00 p.m. The operator recommends a stay of 3–5 hours.
  • Getting thereFor a vehicle trip, use the official access address: 1336 Maekawa, Tamagusuku, Nanjo. The facility's approximately 30–40-minute estimate from Naha Airport can increase with traffic. It does not cover departure from your hotel or rental-car collection.

  • MealsAn official notice says the Nantoya soba restaurant has been temporarily closed since February 13, 2026. If planning to eat at SANGO, ask the facility about that day's opening hours. Check your restaurant's hours before choosing lunch in the park or dinner after returning to Naha.

Does Shurijo cost ¥400 or ¥1,000?

Adult paid-area admission is ¥400 through November 21, 2026, and ¥1,000 from November 23. All areas close on November 22. On November 23, the free area inside the walls opens at 11:15 a.m., and the paid area and Seiden interior at noon. Choosing the two-day A route on that date requires a return flight late enough for an afternoon visit, hotel bag collection, and airport check-in. From November 23, Seiden interior entry requires a ticket with a date and time reservation; a ticket without one excludes the interior. Does an aquarium ticket give half-price Tropical Dream Center admission?
