Choose Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden for keep exhibitions and a garden walk, or Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter and Ohara Museum of Art for white-walled streets and artworks. For everyday crafts such as ceramics and textiles, visit Kurashiki Museum of Folkcraft. Choose Mount Washuzan for views of the Great Seto Bridge and islands, or Kibitsujinja Shrine to worship and walk its long corridor.

Okayama Korakuen Garden

Walk between broad lawns and ponds for garden scenery. For Okayama Castle too, compare the combined paid keep/garden ticket. Night openings happen only on specified dates and need a separate check from daytime visits.
- AdmissionAdults aged 15–64, excluding junior high/high school students, ¥500; ages 65 and older ¥200. High school students and younger enter free through March 31, 2027; high school students need student proof. Castle combined ticket ¥800.
- Hours and closuresMarch 20–September 30: 07:30–18:00, admission until 17:45. October 1–March 19: 08:00–17:00, admission until 16:45. Events may change hours.
- AccessAbout a 25-minute walk from Okayama Station. Alternatively, take a Higashiyama-bound tram to Shiroshita and walk about ten minutes. The official transport guide’s roughly four-minute tram estimate excludes waits and walking.

Okayama Castle

Inside Okayama Castle, known for its black exterior, learn about its lords and castle town. Walk around the surrounding park or enter the paid keep exhibitions. For Korakuen too, compare the combined ticket.

- AccessTake a Higashiyama-bound tram from Okayama Station to Shiroshita, then walk towards the castle. Castle and garden lie across the river from one another; follow facility maps.
Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter
倉敷美観地区
White-walled buildings line the canal. Walk lanes, browse shops and take breaks. You can explore streets without entering museums; individual shops and facilities have their own opening days.
- AdmissionOfficial introductions did not confirm an admission ticket covering the whole street area. Museums, sightseeing boats and activities are separate.
- Hours and closuresStreet walks differ from individual shop hours. Check actual-date sightseeing boat times and suspensions separately.
- AccessOfficial guidance gives about ten minutes from Kurashiki Station’s south side to the quarter entrance. This differs from the museum’s roughly 15-minute approach to Ohara’s Main Building. JR rides and waits take extra time.

Ohara Museum of Art
大原美術館
See Western paintings, crafts and Asian art between historical quarter walks. The Main Building and Kojima Torajiro Memorial Hall have different hours.
- AdmissionOrdinary admission is ¥2,000; elementary, junior high and high school students under 18 pay ¥500; preschool children enter free. The ticket includes the Main Building, Craft Art and Asian Art Gallery and Kojima Torajiro Memorial Hall. The Annex is closed long-term.
- Hours and closuresMain Building March–November 09:00–17:00, admission until 16:30; December–February 09:00–15:00, admission until 14:30. Usually closed Mondays, but opens on public/substitute holidays; opens every day in August. Kojima Torajiro Memorial Hall hours differ: March–November 10:00–16:00, December–February 10:00–15:00.
- AccessThe facility estimates about 15 minutes from Kurashiki Station’s south exit to the Main Building at 1-1-15 Chuo. Distinguish this from the ten-minute quarter entrance approach. Accommodation–station walking is extra.
Mount Washuzan

Consider Washuzan viewpoints for Seto Ohashi Bridge and island scenery from above. If staying for sunset, fit your visit to transport back to Kojima Station. Find the related view in the camera section: it shows the Seto Inland Sea and islands from Washuzan. Images cannot establish the whole facility interior or whether you can visit.
- AdmissionViewpoint walks and the visitor centre are free. Daytime bus day passes cost ¥520 for adults or ¥260 for children and differ from the sunset program ticket. The three/four-night Washuzan routes here use the ¥540 sunset program instead. Taxis and meals are extra.
- Hours and closuresVisitor centre April–September 09:00–17:00, October–March 09:00–16:30; closed December 29–January 3. Safe outdoor viewpoint access depends on on-site conditions.
- AccessTake a second-viewpoint-bound bus from Kojima Station bay 4 to Washuzan Daini Tenbodai · 鷲羽山第二展望台. Walk about five minutes to the viewpoint; check operator notices to see whether the current temporary detour applies on your date. The visitor centre is a different endpoint, about ten minutes uphill from the parking area. Return buses go via Obatake to Kojima Station.
- For the sunset busThis separate program leaves Kojima Station bay 5 on Fridays, Saturdays and days before public holidays. Adults and children pay ¥540. Spend about 15 minutes at each of two viewpoints, then return to Kojima Station. Check monthly official departure/return times. No reservation is required, but full buses cannot accept you. It differs from the daytime pass; clear views and sunset colours are not guaranteed.

Kibitsujinja Shrine
吉備津神社
Kibitsujinja Shrine’s long corridor follows the terrain. Walk about ten minutes from Kibitsu Station to worship and explore shrine architecture. Distinguish it from the similarly named Kibitsuhiko Shrine when navigating.
- Fees and reservationsOrdinary worship is freely accessible during opening hours; the current FAQ states no admission amount. Paid prayers start at ¥5,000 per request and are excluded from this route.
- Hours05:00–18:00. Goshuin worship-stamp reception ends at 16:00, separate from worship access hours.
- AccessTake a Soja-bound JR Kibi Line (Momotaro Line) train from Okayama to Kibitsu, then walk about ten minutes. The shrine’s Japanese guide gives about 17 minutes by rail plus ten minutes walking. JR search samples show 15–18-minute rides; actual-date timetables and waits are separate. Return from the same station towards Okayama.
- Visit scopeThe main sanctuary interior is not open for ordinary sightseeing. The suggested 60–90 minutes for corridor and grounds is an editorial plan, rather than an official standard visit time.

Kurashiki Museum of Folkcraft

See everyday objects such as tableware and textiles in converted rice storehouses. Choose this for everyday crafts rather than Ohara’s paintings.
- AdmissionOrdinary admission is ¥1,200; high school/university students pay ¥500; elementary/junior high students pay ¥300. Prices may vary by exhibition. Groups of 20 or more require advance booking.
- Hours and closures10:00–17:00, admission until 16:30. Closed Mondays, or the following day for public holidays. Follow facility guidance for Golden Week/Obon exceptions, December 29–January 1 closures and temporary exhibition-changeover or weather-warning closures.
- AccessWalk about 15 minutes from Kurashiki Station’s south side towards the quarter. Address: 1-4-11 Chuo, Kurashiki. Use the official area map, then return on foot to the same station.

Frequently asked questions
Does an Ohara Museum of Art ticket include Kurashiki Museum of Folkcraft?
The folkcraft museum is a separate facility. Ohara's ordinary JPY 2,000 ticket covers the Main Building, Craft Art and Asian Art building, and Kojima Torajiro Memorial Hall. The folkcraft museum's standard ordinary ticket costs JPY 1,200, but its fee can change with the exhibition.
Do all three Ohara Museum of Art buildings have the same hours?
From March to November, the Main Building opens 09:00–17:00, with last admission at 16:30. Kojima Torajiro Memorial Hall opens 10:00–16:00. From December to February, the Main Building opens 09:00–15:00, with last admission at 14:30, and the memorial hall opens 10:00–15:00. Check temporary changes and the opening calendar for your travel dates.
